New Baby Hedgehog

Throwing some ideas around for my first greeting card line. I plan to have an Etsy store up and running hopefully in time for Christmas. *crosses fingers*

A Year of Flowers

Don't know why I haven't updated in so long. It's not like I haven't been working on anything this past few weeks. I just finished the month of May last night and already moving onto June. I've got plenty more done, so expect more updates within the next few days.

Hedgiehog

I've been busy working on designs to go on t-shirts, magnets, and the sort.  Speaking of which, I've always wanted a cute hedgehog t-shirt, but could never find one in adult sizes. So I'm making my own--maybe other people would like it? Here's a possible design I might use.

Did I mention I like owls?

More owls. This time, I was messing around in Illustrator and brainstorming. I'm planning to create a line of stationery and/or buttons with a colorful animal theme. Look at his little feet. Isn't he a hoot?

Superhero of some sort

Quick paint job of an old sketch. I plan to get the May illustration done asap--hopefully before June starts. I see I need to practice drawing hands more.

A Year of New Friends

I know it's been awhile. My only excuse is a new full time job and life in general. I did the sketch for April looong ago but was only able to color it recently. I will have May up before the end of the month.

Ireland

Some Irish characters done in Flash. I have a few more sketched out already but I'm not sure when I'll get around to coloring them.

Chinese Dragon

I love dragons - especially Chinese dragons, which are generally much friendlier than their western counterparts. Last month while attending the Chinese New Year parade, I noticed the dragon teams were always led by someone in the front holding up an orb. After doing some research, I learned that dragons are commonly depicted in Chinese art chasing after a flaming pearl. This is said to have stemmed from an old belief that the dragon held, or chased, the sun. According to one source, "[the pearl] is thought to be a symbolic representation of the 'sacred pearl' of wisdom or yang energy."

Getting ready for GDC!

I'll be going to GDC 2013 this year.  Apparently this is a huge event, so thankfully I'll be going with a friend who's been there before.  I'm super stoked to meet other artists and game developers from all over the country.
In other news: Ever since the San Fran Chinese New Year Parade, I've been drawing exclusively things related to China. There'll be more to follow. :)

Knights n' Dragons

The first in what I plan to be a series of illustrations for a storybook concept involving medieval times. As a kid, I was obsessed with anything related to dragons, knights, and princesses; so making an illustrated book sounded fun. I experimented in doing a painterly loose style. I think it's appropriate. :)

1970s Soul

Happy February! The 1970's brought a lot of polyester and platform heels. This is actually a very old piece that I've just revamped. I liked the pose but parts of it--especially from the neck up--had to be redone. I'm happy with the results.

A Year of Love

Only the second month, and 2013 is already turning out to be an improvement over last year.  Here's my piece for February. A shy little girl working up the courage to confess her adoration. Let's all make this an awesome year!

Raincoat Girl Modelsheet

Modelsheet of a character from my children's storybook concept. I decided to pick up my markers after watching them collect dust for a few years.

A Year of Celebration

Time flies way too fast these days. January's already almost over! I'd better get to coloring the February drawing soon.
