Long winter hiatus is over

Here's a preview of what's to come.

It'll be part of a set of four illustrations inspired by San Francisco. It turns out that Victorian homes are very fun to draw!

Did I mention I like owls?

More owls. This time, I was messing around in Illustrator and brainstorming. I'm planning to create a line of stationery and/or buttons with a colorful animal theme. Look at his little feet. Isn't he a hoot?

Chinese Dragon

I love dragons - especially Chinese dragons, which are generally much friendlier than their western counterparts. Last month while attending the Chinese New Year parade, I noticed the dragon teams were always led by someone in the front holding up an orb. After doing some research, I learned that dragons are commonly depicted in Chinese art chasing after a flaming pearl. This is said to have stemmed from an old belief that the dragon held, or chased, the sun. According to one source, "[the pearl] is thought to be a symbolic representation of the 'sacred pearl' of wisdom or yang energy."

1970s Soul

Happy February! The 1970's brought a lot of polyester and platform heels. This is actually a very old piece that I've just revamped. I liked the pose but parts of it--especially from the neck up--had to be redone. I'm happy with the results.

Giant Octopus Attack!

It's not that I haven't worked on anything for months, but rather I haven't uploaded any of it.
Cutest giant monster ever.

Twinkle

I felt like doing something simple with Illustrator's shape tool. So, I chose stars! I'm not too happy with the moon. In the future, I may come back to this piece and fix it.

Good niiight.
